66 side exhaust question

I'm installing side pipes on the 66 that I am restoring and hope someone can give me some help. I've got the diver side pipe on but the front end ride to high for me to put the exhaust cover on. It is like it needs a spacer where the exhaust bolts to the manifold. Any idea's?

Have you tried to loosen the pipe at the manifold and rotate it down????
Do you have original correct manifolds?

What Steve said plus make sure you installed ....

the exhaust pipe/manifold donut.
