    C2:67 Hood Gumdrop Adhesive

Think I found a good substitute for the C2 hood to hood frame adhesive. Here it is:

Dap Premium Polyurethane Roof and Flashing Sealant. This stuff is black and turns to almost a hard rubber in two days. Sticks to anything, glass or your skin, as I found out, and almost impossible to get out from under your nails.

It cuts with Xylol or Lacquer thinner. But have plenty of paper shop towels around, it is a messy operation forcing this stuff into the adhesive joints betweem the hood skin and hood frame.

It's really not the correct stuff but it is right for me. My hood no longer floats or bounces around at high speed. The correct stuff was really brown in color but was painted over with the engine compartment blackout. You can paint this stuff over in 72 hours with engine blackout and none of the judges will ever know.

As 50 year stuff, it will at least last another 39 years on my 67.

    Having fun,

    Re: Yeah but Jerry

That tube says NOTHING about high speed compression resiliance

    That's a great alternative Jerry.

I picked the thick foam for my radiator seals from Lowe's

I just can't figure out where to put the sump pump yet though...Hmm maybe behind the passenger's seat

          Jerry,

          Is it paintable?

          Thanks,

            James,

The tube says to allow it to fully cure to firm rubber (24-48 hours) prior to painting. Cures to a similar finish as the hood blackout.

I'm going to try painting it this weekend.
