    C2 Thermostat Housing Gasket

After thoroughly cleaning the block surface and the housing surface, is it necessary to coat the block, housing and gasket with a sealer when installing a new thermostat? And if a sealer is necessary, which one?

    Thanks,

    Dwight

    Dwight------

Not if you use gasket GM #10105135. This gasket has a pre-applied elastomer bead. It makes other sealers unnecessary.

All this assumes that the gasket surfacees on your manifold and outlet neck are FLAT and SMOOTH (unpitted or otherwise undamaged). If not, then you'll need to use silicone sealer in HOPES that you might be able to seal this interface.
