Crop Circles And Door Jamb Ovals

Good point Al. Or, maybe it's more mysterious than that. Kinda like those crop circles that appear in fields late at night, these may be the mineature version, door jamb ovals. I understand this happens to a lot of old Corvettes that didn't originally have power windows. Fortunately, these "door jamb ovals" occasionally disappear as mysteriously as they appear because the reincarnation car doesn't have power windows. Hmmmmm?

        Hello Guys,
I think I'm the owner of this car. I purchased it, perhaps too quickly, in Orlando at the regional meet. So, are you saying that this was built from a bunch of parts, or what. I mean it really is a car, and it really does have a 396 in it. Does this mean that the trim tab was removed from the junk and place on another frame? As you can see, I'm not too up on this--just an honest guy trying to have a little fun. If I've been scammed, let me know and I will put the word out on this guy. Thanks.

Hi Ron -- I can't help you too much on this; maybe the others with more knowledge of the "Orlando meet" can chime in. All I know is that when I saw the VIN 22301, my memory clicked on the June 2003 eBay listing.

In my opinion, the best outcome for you is that, yes, it was assembled from a bunch of parts. And yes, it is a beautiful car, probably worth the $$$ you are looking for on its own merit.

But there are worse scenarios, and I would be wanting to talk to those 5 previous owners immediately. Depending on their answers, you may decide then to end your current auction.

          Good Luck

Thank you, Wayne. The guy I purchased from was Paul D'Alessandro, claims to have a restoration shop in Port Charlotte--near Fort Meyers. If you or anyone else knows of his credentials, I would appreciate it. Yes, I will attempt to get in touch with the other owners. Thanks again.

Talked with Paul D'Alessandro today--the guy from whom I purchased the car. He says he used a "donor" car for the restoration, or whatever you call it now, and still has the title to the donor car. When I bought the car, I never thought to ask if it was matching numbers ashtray and other assorted parts. I don't know if this is above board, or not--must be OK with the state of Florida. Paul's number(and he said anyone could call)--cell(941-626-0416.

                    Ron,

I'm very sorry to here of your predicament. I am not familiar with the laws regarding this activity in Florida but I can't imagine it being "OK" with any DMV in the USA to transfer a vin plate from one car to another.

If I were in your shoes, I would stop the eBay auction and find a good attorney who specializes in automotive title cases. Until Mr. D'Alessandro produces some type of offical document from the Florida DMV (that can be verified by your attorney) that clears his action as being completely legal, I would begin legal action against him for frauduant misrepresentaion of this car.

                    good luck,
                    tc

I have been in the bodyshop business 35+ years. ANYTIME a vin is changed or a donor body is used to rebuild a wreck you need to have the dmv or state police involved. You could loose your car or go to jail. And also be named in a lawsuit for fraud by the next buyer. I would want my money back. Bill

FWIW it looks like the auction is going to rin its length with no mention of any of this in the auction.
