I recently ran across a set of heads for a 1958 283 engine. These heads are drilled and tapped on the ends for accessory mounting, like the later (1969 and up?) heads. I have since learned that some 1958 and 1959 heads were drilled and tapped for the mounting of the air compressor used on the optional Air Ride Suspension system on passenger cars and trucks.
The 1958 Corvette that these heads are on is believed to be an original car, with correct engine components. The history of this car is well known.
Anyone else run into a 58 / 59 Corvette with the heads drilled and tapped on the end?
