    Sorry, I listed my reference to 1st and 2nd design paterns in reverse order! Lets start over. 1967,1968,and I beleive early 1969 (I have '69 #1053 which has 1st design handle)used a parking brake lever that was distinctly different from those used in 1970 ( I have '70 #8998 which has 2nd design) through at least 1976. The knurled pattern on the "1st design" handle was the diamond like pattern which extended all the way to the chrome around the release button. (For a period of time in mid '67 production there was no chrome on the plastic grip portion at all.) The "second design" pattern was more like a series of short parallel dashes which stopped about 1/8th of an inch short of the chrome. A smooth grip on any of these years would be a replacement. I still think that a 1968 and a 1970 should not have the same style grip.
